This was the second DHS project, DHS
ChildCare was the first, and it presented some interesting
challenges. I was given creative freedom in which I could use
what ever color and style I wanted but they needed navigation
on top and the left side of the page.
I chose to design two similar pages with the required
navigation in place but I modified the colors of the pages and
the shape choice. I also decided to use a silhouette of a family
instead of a photo because this website is to be used by a database
driven application that will help people take a requirements test
to receive possible DHS assistance. So the silhouette is beneficial
because it negates the issue of excluding a nationality or the
possible focusing on or stereotyping a specific nationality.
The jury is still out on which design they have
picked so I am presenting both designs.
> Photoshop and Illustrator were used to design
the layout.
> Fireworks and Dreamweaver were used to create
the HTML and then modify it.
> This project was done over a six week period
under the supervision of the project manager April Cox.
